Our Team
Daniel Heimpel, Managing Director
Prior to launching Good River, Heimpel founded and led Fostering Media Connections, a national journalism nonprofit focused on children, youth and families. He has both written and produced stories about child welfare for Newsweek, CNN and the Oprah Winfrey Network, the Stanford Social Innovation Review, and The Chronicle of Philanthropy, winning numerous journalism prizes along the way.
He is also a pioneer in journalism education, with his Journalism for Social Change class having reached hundreds of graduate students at the University of California, Berkeley, USC and UPenn, and thousands globally as a massive open online course offered through edX.
Daniel brings his expertise of child welfare policy, relationships, and his proven ability for storytelling to Good River’s mission and partnerships.
Nicole Rojas, Project Specialist
Before joining Good River, Nicole was a Senior Technology Investment Banking Analyst at Citi, where she spent three years in the San Francisco Bay Area covering top venture capital funds and their portfolio companies, helping finance and take some of the largest technology companies public. She also served as a Venture Fellow at both How Women Invest and SomosVC, supporting women-led and diverse startups.
Her passion for expanding housing opportunities stems from her own lived experience facing housing instability as a teenager and throughout college in Los Angeles. She has first-hand knowledge of navigating the challenges of the shelter system and transitional housing resources, which provided the foundation for her to achieve her full potential.
Nicole is now harvesting her lived experience, rigorous Wall Street training, and a tech-forward mindset to drive Good River's mission of increasing affordable housing opportunities for those who need it most.
Kevin Clark, Senior Director
Before joining Good River, Kevin was a Financial Analyst at the California State Department of Finance where he oversaw a portfolio of state departments with operating revenues in excess of $1.2 billion. He is a licensed real estate agent in California and supports clients on residential and commercial acquisitions, entitlements, and dispositions.
His passion for supporting youth success stems from his personal experience living 12 years in foster care in Southern California. He has first-hand knowledge navigating the difficulties of system involvement and housing instability, and he was fortunate enough to be placed in transitional housing run by a generous benefactor who inspired his goal to increase the availability of housing options for transition-aged youth.
Kevin brings his lived experience, deep knowledge of public sector finance, and his real estate brokerage experience in support of Good River’s clients.
