July 2026 | The National Foster Youth Housing Summit: Housing as the Cornerstone of Foster Youth Independence

Advocates, congressional staff, and youth leaders fill the Congressional Auditorium at the Capitol Visitor Center on May 20, 2026, for a day of conversation about housing and foster youth independence.

Washington, D.C.   |   May 19–20, 2026

During May and in Washington, D.C., Good River Partners convened child welfare leaders, housing developers, federal and state policymakers, advocates, grantmakers, and young people who had experienced foster care for one shared purpose: to ensure that every young person in and exiting foster care has access to the stable housing they need to reach their full potential.

The summit was co-hosted by the Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute, Foster America, Journey to Success, the National Center for Housing and Child Welfare, Table Sense, and Think of Us. It was made possible with the generous support of the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption, with Fostering Promise sponsoring the Summit lunch.

Please keep us updated on any new FYI policy initiatives. We'd welcome the opportunity to partner with you to help accelerate policy reforms and advance shared priorities.
